Hi! Carmen here ~~
Last weekend, we were present at the 10th Sabah Adventure Challenge 2009 in Kiulu & Kiau to sample the participants and officials!
we started our journey as early as 5.30am and drove (without Leo) 1 hour out of KK heading towards Kiulu which is actually a river of grade 1-2 which is suitable for rafting activity. 2 incidents happened that day 1) our coordinator's car accidentally got into a hole while reversing so the participants helped to get the car out from it 2) the lorry that was bringing our stocks had a punctured tyre and didn’t manage to reach us. Therefore, we only had 4 cartons of RBG for sampling that day and we only have two Red Bull buntings which our coordinator brought in case of emergency =(
After Kiulu, we drove straight to Kundasang to stay over for the night before heading to Kiau the next day. Kundasang is such a peaceful place and the weather is nice too. Eventhough we encountered problems getting accomodation (since its Good Friday it seems like many people are heading to the mountain for the weekend) we finally found a nice place called Zen Garden (Very 'Zen' indeed! Highly recommended.hhahaha~)
The next day we followed the organiser to Kampung Kiau, deep inside the hills. the journey was very tough and we felt tired even before reaching the location for sampling. But the view is amazing so in a way it is worth it ^^. We were based at station 9.
Red Bull is very sought after by the participants on the 2nd day as they really can experince the effect! some of them even asked to us give them extra and keep a few for them (in case stock finish) so that they can energize themselves with Red Bull.
The international participants keep on saying the slogan "Red Bull Give You Wiings!" when they saw us so we taught them the Malaysian slogan 'BULLEH!~~~'
It was a really tiring sampling mission but it was very inspiring to see various people from different backgrounds pushing themselves to the limit and enjoying the beautiful nature of our country at the same time.
Final photo from the team ^^
Note: Carmen, Becky, Eason (part-timer who help us carry things!) and Eeza (taking photo)
Should i try and join next year ? Who wanna go with me ?
Signing Off,
CARMEN!
